KISS OF LIFE, the rookie group in their 2nd month since debut, is showing remarkable momentum. Their title track "쉿(Shhh)" has captured the ears of countless listeners, and even each member's solo tracks, a bold challenge for a debut album, are also generating buzz. Their performances on stage showing off their solid skills and overflowing talent to the fullest and freely, the more you see them, the more you’ll love it.

So, what goes on behind the scenes with KISS OF LIFE? FLNK Magazine joined them backstage at the FLNK fansign event to find out.
 

You held your last fansign event with FLNK. How did you feel about meeting fans at this fansign event?

JULIE First, it felt like we hadn't seen our fans for a long time since we finished the activity, so we were more excited and happy to meet them. Meeting fans at a fansign event is always a great feeling. I'm sad that it's the last time, and I think we will miss our fans. But I'm so glad we could have our final fansign event well with FLNK.

How are you doing now? You've just successfully completed your debut song, "쉿 (Shhh)"?

NATTY Our members are now practicing for our upcoming comeback, and we're working hard to ensure that we return as cooler and more mature KISS OF LIFE after our successful "쉿 (Shhh)". In addition to that, we've been listening to our overdue music that we haven't heard for a month.

As soon as you debuted, all of you had already performed solo on music broadcasts. Each stage felt very impactful. How did you think of it?

JULIE As JULIE in the group and the solo JULIE is different, I was so happy and fun to be allowed to show the solo JULIE. It was exceptional and precious to be given such an opportunity as soon as we debuted, and it was great to show our fans another possibility of myself. It felt like I got rid of some of the pangs I had for six years. We can do better, and there are still many cool things we still want to show, so please give us a lot of attention and love in the future.

NATTY I tried hard to make an excellent stage. I also participated in the performance with the director and gave my opinion on the stage composition and styling. For my solo this time, I decided to do a song that I wanted to do rather than a popular song to show what I like and what I'm best at. I could perform this song thanks to our fans and many people who cared about us, but actually I didn't know they would like it this much. I'm feeling again, ‘I'm so glad I chose this song!’

BELLE We were so happy to have this opportunity to show our solo songs on stage, but, at the same time, filling the whole stage without our members was a bit burdensome for me. Still, I'm proud that we all prepared well in a short amount of time and delivered an excellent performance. We want many opportunities to perform our songs on stage like this.

HANEUL I was happy and grateful that we could release solo from the beginning, but I was proud of our team and thought it was so cool that we could make the solo stage. Through this opportunity, I realized that our capabilities are excellent.

 JULIE, you are usually soft in your talks, but I was impressed by the charismatic manner on your stage. What kind of personality do you have as a leader, and what were some of the difficulties you faced during these activities?

JULIE As a leader, I'm more of a soft person. I haven't scolded my members or treated them with much charisma yet because we're all so close and good at what we do. The difficulty I had as a leader was that I was thinking a lot about what roles I should play in this team to be a more dependable leader. Since the members are all so amazing, I should always be cheerful and optimistic and show them that I'm growing so they can see and be influenced by it.

NATTY, I heard that you participated in the choreography of your solo song "Sugarcoat". What aspect did you care most while choreographing, and what is your favorite choreography?

NATTY I was involved in the intro to the chorus, but my favourite part is the pre-chorus which starts with "드러낸 적 없던 맘이(the feelings I've never shown)”. When I choreographed it, I wanted to make it so elaborate and polished that even dancers would like to follow. I approached it with the mindset that this choreography is kind of my own creation, not for a viral video that could be easily danced along to. I'm so happy that both the fans and the dancers liked it.

BELLE, you've been making music for a long time, but now you're taking on a new challenge as a singer. Apart from singing, you're also showcasing dance and acting in music videos. Did you discover anything new as a performer, and what do you find appealing about each member as a producer?

BELLE I've learnt that being a visually-orientated musician is a big responsibility because we must fully immerse ourselves in our songs, perform them on stage, and be loved by the public, so we must be more disciplined about things like taking care of ourselves. But being on stage is much more exciting and fun than just writing songs behind the scenes. 

JULIE's languid, sexy rap is attractive; NATTY's airy voice, perfect with R&B, is gorgeous; and HANEUL's solid, clear vocals can hold up well anywhere.

HANEUL, I heard you had a relatively short training period as a trainee, so you had to undergo rigorous training before your debut. As the team's "Maknae(막내)," were there moments when you were incredibly dependent on your "Unnies(언니들)?"

HANEUL I've spent so much time on my own since I was a trainee. So if I'm struggling, I often suffer through it alone, but after the team was confirmed, my "Unnies(언니들)" said, "If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can talk to us. We would love for you to do that." That supported me.

JULIE Hello, FLNK Magazine readers! Our first activity as KISS OF LIFE has come to an end, and we are so happy and grateful that we received more love and attention than we expected.
