[FLNK MAGAZINE] ENJIN INTERVIEW
Returning with their second album [Inception], ENJIN is ready to embark on a journey toward an 'unseen paradise(見たことないparadise)' with MU3E.

Q. Congratulations on your comeback with your new album [Inception]! What did you want to show ENJIN through this album?
[TOY] With the change in notation this year, we have become a new ENJIN. The sudden announcement continued, and I'm sure MU3E have been curious about how ENJIN would go. Through this album, we wanted to show the path we wish to walk.
[RYONO] We wanted to show the unity of ENJIN and our 'determination.' We aim to achieve success with this album.
[TSUBASA] As a dance leader, I can say that everyone's dance skills have improved dramatically, so please look forward to it!
Q. TSUBASA and KYO created the choreography for the songs on this album. What aspect did you care about most while choreographing, and what is your favorite choreography?
[TSUBASA] I was in charge of the choreography for "Danger". I tried to express the tension of adults push-and-pull, tempting each other. I thought every expression and movement was important in this song, so I put in an ennui choreography and a movement using fingertips and neck. My favorite part is "stop, go, fast, slow", where we move our waists as the lyrics go. I thought this was the core part of this song.
[KYO] I made the choreography for "Killer". It's a powerful song that we've never tried before. I designed it to convey intensity to those who will see us for the first time. My favorite part is the chorus choreography I like the lyrics. I created movements that express the lyrics and highlight the melody in the chorus.
Q. Do you have any behind-the-scenes stories from the music video shoot of “Major”?
[RYONO] We shot scenes in pairs, and there was a moment when KYO and TAIGA's faces were extremely close. Everyone watching on the monitor couldn't stop laughing.
[TOY] At that moment, it seemed like they got emotional. After the cut, KYO kissed TAIGA on his cheek, and the whole set erupted in laughter. I hope that we can show everyone that scene someday!
🎙️ENJIN answers to MU3E!
🎙️MU3E: If you were to travel with a member, where would you like to go and with whom?
[HYUGA] I want to go on a trip to make a photo book with A.rik to Paris, because I want to go to Paris! A.rik often takes photos of me for Instagram, and does a great job of capturing various facial expressions. So I like his pictures. Also, I can bring out A.rik's various facial expressions, so I want to take natural photos of each other and make a photo book together.
[TOY] I want to go to Thailand with KYO. KYO said that when he went to Thailand before, she was so popular that people flocked to him. I want to see that. (laughs)
[TAIGA] I want to go to Disney Land with TSUBASA. We both love Disney and have been saying we want to go, but we couldn't because of the schedule. We also sang Disney songs at musical concerts, so I want to experience that world with him.
[SOL] To a hot spring with TOY! TOY and I lived together for a long time, and it was comfortable and fun. We used to go to hot springs often back then, but we haven't been able to go recently, which is a bit unfortunate. I want to go again.
🎙️MU3E: If the members were to live together, what do you think it would be like?
[RYONO] We would wake each other up in the morning, so we would never be late, and we could share the cleaning duties. Of course, my precious alone time would decrease, and we might have to wait to shower.
[TSUBASA] KYO would probably cook delicious meals, but SOL would be too noisy, so I wouldn't be able to sleep! (laughs)
[TAIGA] I'm worried that SOL, HYUGA, and KYO would be so noisy that I wouldn't be able to sleep!
[TOY] We could talk about ENJIN anytime and have fun playing games together. My concern is that whenever I have snacks, everyone would gather around, and I'd lose them every day.
[KYO] We would laugh every day and never feel lonely. However, we would be extremely tired, but in a good way!
🎙️MU3E: What are you into lately?
[A.rik] I used to love oversized silhouettes and only wore large-sized clothes. Recently, I've started to like slim fit, so I tried buying children's clothes. I tried a size 130 and the thread burst!
[TSUBASA] ASMR. I couldn't sleep well for a while. One day, I discovered the sound of cutting sand blocks with a knife and it made me fall asleep happily. That's how I got into ASMR. These days, I listen to the sounds of chewing kohakuto or tapping.
[HYUGA] I never miss the weight training every morning. Sometimes I wake up late and don't have much time, but I make sure to get up at least 30 minutes before I start getting ready for my workout.
🎙️MU3E: If it rains on your day off, is there anything you want to do?
[A.rik] If it rains, I want to go to another member's house and have a home party.
[TSUBASA] On rainy mornings, I usually read novels at home with the sound of rain as my background music.
[HYUGA] I love the sound of rain, but I hate getting wet, so I stay home, watch movies, or roll around. I don't want to go outside.
[SOL] I want to go take pictures of hydrangeas on a rainy day. I heard that a temple in Kamakura has beautiful hydrangeas, so I wanted to go there on a rainy day, but it was closed, so I couldn't go.
🎙️MU3E: Do you believe in fortunes or Omikuji?
[A.rik] I believe in good ones. On the first day of this month, I went to a shrine with KYO, and it had small objects, not paper, so I picked it like a gacha machine. Since my real name is Fukuchi, I wished I could get the word "Huku (福)" on it, and I got it, which made me happy. I always pick Omikuji until I get ‘great luck’, but this time I was satisfied with ‘small luck’ on the first try.
[TSUBASA] I believe in them a lot. At the beginning of every year, I draw Omikuji with my family at Naritasan Shinshoji, and I’ve gotten 'great luck' five years in a row.
[TAIGA] I don't believe in them at all. Rather, I'd like the members to tell me the charm of fortunes or Omikuji.
[SOL] I don't believe in fortunes or Omikuji. I think everything depends on me.
Q. You go on a nationwide tour every year. When do you feel you have grown while performing on countless stages?
[A.rik] When you're on tour, you have to train yourself in a short time to do something you can't do before. So I feel like you're getting better and better. It's more practical than practice!
During tours, I have to train myself in a short period to achieve things I couldn't do before. That's why I feel like I've improved a lot and grown gradually. The stage is real, you know.
[TSUBASA] My talk skills as an MC have improved a lot. At first, I didn't know what to say during the MC part, so I even asked the staff to make me a script. But now I can talk for a long time by roughly deciding what to say.
[HYUGA] I was very nervous and worried when I debuted, but now I can perform while thinking about how to deliver my charm and what I prepared.
[TOY] I've learned to enjoy being on stage. I've also become better at conveying that joy to the fans while enjoying the stage myself.
Q. Please tell us about the charm of the member next to you.
[TOY] HYUGA is creative and cute. He participated in designing LIVE T-shirts, conceptualizing costumes, and the lyrics of "Shining Your Life" before, and MU3E liked them. Also, he’s cute approaching with a smile when I have snacks.
[HYUGA] A.rik's charm lies in his facial expressions. He has excellent expressiveness and knows the charm of his expressions well.
[A.rik] TAIGA doesn't seem to care about others, but he does care about my feet. I injured my foot, and he's been attentive to it. It's heart-fluttering.
[TAIGA] KYO is truly versatile. He has a good sense of humor, he's good at playing instruments like guitar and piano. He's an attractive artist in many ways.
[KYO] SOL may seem innocent and bossy, but he has a tender heart that cares for the members.
[SOL] RYONO is honest. You will find how honest he is with his usual behaviors like shaking someone awake or his behavior during meals.
[RYONO] TSUBASA is the best dancer in ENJIN. His presence elevates ENJIN's performance to the next level.
[TSUBASA] TOY is gentle and sincere. He always keeps a sincere attitude and leads everyone well, which is a great help. But I like his somewhat silly moments occasionally, which add humanity to him.
Q. FLNK combines FAN and LINK, and it’s a platform that connects fans and artists. How would ENJIN like to connect with fans in the future?
[TSUBASA] Rather than just receiving support, I want MU3E to be proud of us. I want ENJIN to be something that people can proudly showcase to others, and being a fan of ENJIN can be a source of pride for them.
[TOY] I want more people to know about ENJIN and have live performances and fan meetings not only in Japan but also overseas. I want to bring more MU3E to a paradise that they've never experienced before(見たことないparadise)!
[KYO] I want to do a lot of live performances. I believe people will find ENJIN attractive during live performances, so I want to share time with everyone at the venue.
