[FLNK MAGAZINE] XG Backstage INTERVIEW
XG's 2024 is shaping up to be a year with more fan interactions than ever before. In the first half of the year, they successfully completed their promotions on Korean music shows following the release of their 5th single, <WOKE UP>. They are now fully preparing to connect with fans worldwide through their upcoming world tour. Even amidst their busy schedule, they shared special moments with ALPHAZ at the FLNK FANSIGN EVENT, captured by FLNK Magazine.
Q. You've successfully completed your Korean music show promotions. How do you feel about it?
[COCONA] I'm happy that we could showcase our meaningful new beginning, <WOKE UP>, through our Korean music show promotions. Above all, even though we revealed the fan chant guide for <WOKE UP> on the first day of our promotions, ALPHAZ remembered it right away and cheered loudly and perfectly from the very first day. I am very grateful for that.
Q. You met your fans directly at the FLNK FANSIGN EVENT. Are there any particular words from fans you remember?
[MAYA] We performed the <WOKE UP> stage while wearing the cute items that ALPHAZ prepared for us. After the performance, ALPHAZ said, "Don’t forget the ending fairy pose!" which made me laugh. It was fun.
[CHISA] Every word means a lot to me, but the ones that stood out were: "CHISA, you are my sunshine," "XG's songs save the world," "Above all, take care of your health," and “Thank you for always making us smile.”
Q. You have a world tour coming up, spanning Asia, the United States, and Europe. What are you most looking forward to?
[HARVEY] I'm most excited about being able to meet ALPHAZ, who has supported us from afar all this time, in person. I want to meet ALPHAZ from various countries and have unforgettable moments together.
[MAYA] Right, and I'm also looking forward to visiting new countries, learning about different cultures, and trying their local foods. I feel like it's an amazing opportunity for us to get to know the world even more.
Q. Is there anything you always do right before going on stage?
[JURIN] We chant "HESONOO" every time. It means "umbilical cord," symbolizing that we are all connected and always together. We've been doing this since our trainee days, so it's very meaningful to all of us. When we do it before the performance, it gets us fired up.
Q. Who usually leads the dance practice sessions?
[COCONA] JURIN mainly leads our dance practices. When we first learn a new choreography, JURIN memorizes the dance for each part and teaches it to the members. We all give our ideas and input on the details, and JURIN organizes and finalizes everything.
[JURIN] I've been the dance leader since our trainee days. I communicate with the members to highlight each of our unique personalities. For <WOKE UP>, after receiving the initial choreography, we discussed and incorporated what each member wanted to showcase. I believe teamwork is the most important aspect in the practice, and I think it was well reflected in our performance.
Q. Can you tell us a bit about the 'Space Meetings' you have among the members? Any interesting stories to share?
[JURIA] We talk about a variety of topics, including things we want to share from our daily lives during living together, cleaning, practice, and goals. In the end, we share recent events, which sometimes inspire our performance or visual ideas. It's really fun.
[MAYA] The interesting thing about our 'Space Meetings' is that we all have different roles. For example, JURIA has the role of writing down the things we talked about during the meetings.

[CHISA] Sanrio gifted me this Kitty hairpin. I love it so much that I use it during makeup or when cleansing. Just wearing it makes me feel good😜 CHANCE EAU TENDRE by CHANEL is my favorite perfume. When I spray it, I feel invincible🌟 I've already repurchased it five times.
[JURIN] I carry my cap with me even when I’m not wearing it. This cap looks especially cute just hanging on my bag, making it a great fashion item🌺 In my pouch, I have essentials like hand cream, lip balm, red lipstick, and perfume. I always apply red lipstick even when I'm not wearing makeup. It looks great on its own♡
[MAYA] My first essential item is a camera. I like the unique feeling of photos taken with this camera. During music broadcasts or traveling with the members, I always carry my camera to capture memories. My second item is letters written by ALPHAZ. Reading them cheers me up and brings me happiness!! They’re truly precious to me.
[COCONA] My first essential item is LE LABO's THE NOIR perfume. I hadn’t been using perfume for a while, but I came across it at a duty-free shop and loved it so much that I purchased it. These days, I wear it every day. My camera was a gift from my father about six years ago. I use it to take photos of us or the members' makeup with my camera or Maya's. It's enjoyable because makeup, hairstyles, and outfits change so beautifully each time.
[JURIA] First of all, my iPhone is indispensable to the point where I can't do anything without it. I usually use it to listen to music, make calls, or take photos. AirPods are also essential to us, who believe "MUSIC IS MY LIFE." I feel really bad when I forget to bring them. (laughs)
[HARVEY] HYPNOTIC POISON by DIOR is a perfume that my mother gave to my grandmother in Australia a long time ago, and she had been using it since before I was born♡ I always use it because I've loved this scent since I was young, and because I want to remember my grandmother♡ This bag stands out just by wearing it and complements any outfit perfectly, so I really love it♡ Thanks to having this bag around, I've lost fewer things!🤭
[HINATA] I pack items in my pouch that I may need someday. It includes Gua-Sha, cold medicine, contact lenses, lipstick, plasters, nail oil, hand cream, and more! It's inconvenient if I don't have them when needed, so I try to carry them with me all the time.
Q. Please tell us about the charm of the member next to you.
[MAYA] Well, HARVEY has an indescribable charm. She makes people around her laugh with her quirky jokes and feels like my real sister, so we enjoy joking around together.
[HARVEY] JURIA looks cute like a baby squirrel, but she can also be cool. When I try to take her photos, she raises her eyebrows and gives a cool expression, and that contrast is charming.
[JURIA] CHISA shines like the sun, always brightening up the members no matter what happens. When we're tired, CHISA says something funny that makes me laugh, and all my fatigue disappears.
[CHISA] COCONA is the youngest with a lot of sensibility. While she's just a kid in everyday life, she transforms wonderfully on stage. Also, she takes care of us even though she is the youngest. She has strong personal beliefs and clear tastes.
[COCONA] JURIN always has clear thoughts and is independent, which I find admirable. Whenever I see JURIN's back, I want to follow in her footsteps.
[JURIN] HINATA is the most generous person in the world. Even though we are the same age, she is mature. She always embraces everyone with a generous spirit, and I deeply respect her.
[HINATA] MAYA always radiates bright energy in front of fans or when she's with us. Everyone loves her. She may seem like a puppy in everyday life, but she's smart and becomes a source of strength for us.
Q. FLNK combines FAN and LINK, and it’s a platform that connects fans and artists. How would XG like to connect with fans in the future?
[CHISA] While we already have a familial bond with ALPHAZ, I want to cherish both kinship and camaraderie like wolves in the future, building deeper relationships.
[JURIN] I want to be cosmically connected with ALPHAZ. We love the universe; it's a place filled with infinite possibilities because it's endless, so it’s incredibly thrilling. Just like the universe, we want to be a source of excitement for ALPHAZ, always under the same sky (same universe), and want to be connected.
[JURIA] XG and ALPHAZ are always connected through HESONOO. Thank you so much for always giving us energy and love. Love you!
